About
Vishwabandhu Journal was started in 2022 to mark the 75th anniversary of Indian independence, as well as to fulfill the need for a medium of inter-civilizational dialogue in a time of profound world changes. The statement below outlines the purpose and thinking of the journal.
History moves forward and the world we live in is changing more rapidly than many people can recognize. It is imperative to the cause of democracy the world over that the great masses of people awake to the forward movement of history and leave their indelible mark on it. The purpose of this new publication is to record the profound historical moment we are in, and wake people to their rightful place in their nation and the world, and in world history.
This publication will seek to address itself to the Indian people in particular, but also to the people of the world. It will try to serve as a medium for dialogue between civilizations. For a truly equal dialogue, it will reject the superiority of Western civilization. It will work towards the unity of Pan Africa and Pan Asia. It will assert the right of all civilizations to a peaceful place under the sun.
This publication will attempt to examine the history and civilization of the Indian people and re-interpret what is living for this time. It will try to serve as a vehicle for a new people’s culture and vision that draws and bases itself on the old. It will try to re-acquaint the Indian youth to the rich and beautiful history of the Indian freedom struggle, which was a forward movement for world humanity. It will seek to re-establish the links that tied the Indian struggle closely with the world anti-colonial and anti-racist movement. It will popularize the ideas and life works of the freedom fighters who gave their life for this struggle.
Lastly, this publication will serve as a medium for new ideas to be worked out that will define the path for our collective future. In the effort to build this new world, this publication will oppose all vestiges of racism, colonialism and imperialist exploitation and put forth ideas that will further peace, democracy and the elimination of poverty and hunger. It will assert the right of all children to a life free from cares of subsistence, spent in search of their true potential, contributing to world science, art, music and literature.
